2012 SPRRING FLING:   Willow Springs School’s “Spring Fling” will be held on Wednesday, May 9th starting at 5:30 p.m. and will include the following: 

  Ice Cream Social: Start the evening off by stopping by the student lunchroom to enjoy some ice cream at the Ice Cream Social…ONLY $1.00. (Thanks to Valvoline for their help in supplying the ice cream this year, as well as many years in the past.)

  Art/Book/Jr. High Academic fairs:  Walk around the halls and view the outstanding art work done by our creative students.  Make sure to stop in the library for the Scholastic Book Fair.  Also, the Jr. High students will be presenting their class research projects at the Academic Fair.

Band Concert/Glee Club:  Make your way to the gym by 7:00 p.m. to sit and listen to the beautiful music being played by our talented band members and the harmonious songs being sung by our newly formed Glee Club. The 3rd graders will entertain you with their new skills on the recorder.

Please mark this date on your calendar to help share the pride our students have in their accomplishments.

 

BAND STUDENT REMINDERS:  The Band students have a few upcoming performances that should be marked on your calendar.

First, on May 9th the Band will be performing at the Spring Fling.  The band performance will begin at 7:00 p.m., however, the students are required to be in their seats no later than 6:30 p.m.

Secondly, the band students are required to perform at the 8th grade graduation ceremony which will be held on Monday, May 21, 2012.  Students MUST be in their seat by 6:30 p.m.

Dress attire will be required for both performance (nice pants or skirt and a dress shirt).  NO JEANS WILL BE ALLOWED.

 

THIRD GRADE MUSIC NEWS:  Our third graders have been working hard on their recorders and are ready for their first concert.  They have been invited to play with the concert band during their spring concert on May 9th.  So if you are attending the Spring Fling on May 9th come down to the gym and listen to our third graders play from their recorder books.  The concert will start at 7:00 and our third graders will be playing the first few songs, and will be playing with the band on the last song.

 

 

8TH GRADERS – GRADUATION  INFORMATION: 

 

GRADUATION DATE SET: The 8th grade graduating class of 2011-2012 will graduate on Monday, May 21, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. in the gymnasium. 

  ADDITIONAL 8TH GRADE FUNCTIONS:Springfield Trip (changed to 5/11), Dinner Dance (5/16), Great America (5/17) and 8th grade breakfast (5/18)

 

8th GRADE FEES: The total graduation fee is $185.00. A breakdown of the fees was sent home with your graduate. A payment of at least $60.00 was due by Wednesday, May 2. The remaining $50.00 is due by Friday, May 11. (If you participated in the cookie dough fundraiser, your earnings will be deducted from the balance owed.)

ALL FEES MUST BE PAID PRIOR TO GRADUATION OR THE GRADUATE CAN NOT WALK ACROSS THE STAGE.  The fees include, graduation, registration, lunch IOU’S, book fines, etc.

KINDERGARTEN STEPPING-UP PROGRAM 2012:  The Kindergarten Stepping-Up program will be held on Tuesday, May 22, 2012 at 8:45 a.m. in the gymnasium and will last about 40 minutes.  Students should be in their classrooms at 8:25 a.m.  Parents are welcome to bring grandparents and close relatives.  Following the ceremony, students and their families are invited to the student lunchroom for refreshments.  Students will leave with their parents following treats.  Kindergarten students DO NOT have school on Wednesday, May 23, 2012

2012 Yearbooks for Sale - $25.00

Pre-ordered yearbooks will be distributed at the yearbook signing party on Tuesday,

May 8th. Didn’t order yours yet? Have no fear! You can still purchase a 2011/2012 yearbook for $25.00. We have a limited supply, so first come, first served. Once  

 

Old Yearbooks for Sale – Only $3.00!

Missing a yearbook from your past? We have unused books from 2004-2007. Also, we have a few from 2009 and 2011. You can buy some old memories for only $3.00 each.

MAY BOARD MEETING DATE/TIME CHANGE:  The Willow Springs School Dist. #108 Board meeting scheduled for Tuesday, May 22nd has been rescheduled for Monday, May 21, 2012 at 5:30 p.m. in the boardroom.  (Please note the time has also been changed from 6:30 p.m. to

5:30 p.m.) Please make the necessary corrections on your calendar.

 

HOT LUNCH MONEY OWED:  Some students have outstanding IOU’S for breakfast/lunches.  Notices of money due were sent home with the 4th quarter mid-term on April 21st.  Please send money owed as soon as possible. NO MORE IOU’S will be given out after Friday, May 11th, so please make sure your child has a lunch/breakfast or money daily after that date.  Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.

 

2011/2012 REGISTRATION/OUTDOOR EDUCATION MONEY OWED:  Outstanding registration or 5th grade outdoor education money owed for the 2011/2012 school year is now past due.  Please send money owed to Mrs. Wacker in the office or call her with questions at (708) 839-6828.  Thank you for your prompt attention regarding this matter.

 

 

 

 

 

 

COMPUTER LAB OPEN TO THE COMMUNITY: The computer is open to the community on Tuesday, May 8th from 4:15-7:00 p.m.  Hope to see you!

REMINDER:  Students attending the computer lab alone MUST have a permission slip signed by their parent/guardian.

LOST AND FOUND:  Parents, please have your child check the lost and found table in the hallway by the office.  There are many jackets, hats, gloves, shoes, pants, sweatshirts, and many other items.  Parents are welcomed to stop in and check for their child/ren’s lost items.  Also check the lost and found in the office as we have eye glasses and house keys.

 

ARE YOUR STUDENTS RETURNING NEXT YEAR-SURVEY:

A survey was sent home last week asking if your students are returning for the 2012-2013 school year or if you’re moving.  The completed survey is due by Friday, May 11th.  Your reply will help us with the ordering of materials for the next school year.  Thank you for your cooperation.

 

 

 

ATTENTION STUDENTS AND PARENTS:

 

Teacher Appreciation week starts this coming Monday, May 7th.  Want to show your appreciation to one or more of the Willow teachers?  Note cards will be available in the lunchroom or use the attached form.  You can also create your own form of appreciation by drawing a picture or making your own card.  The collection mailbox will be in the lunchroom. PFC will do the rest and ensure your teacher receives it.
